Calyx Software and PRMS Strategically Align - June 28, 2011
DALLAS, TX June 28, 2011 ─ Calyx Software®, the preferred mortgage origination solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, announced today a strategic alliance with Precision Risk Management Systems, Inc., an innovative provider of risk management technology products and hedge services for the U.S. mortgage Industry..
Many bankers who use PointCentral® as their primary banking software and system of record are making the move from “best efforts” to “mandatory” delivery. While there is a financial reward to those who make this transition, there is increased risk if it’s not done properly. PRMS provides solutions that enable lenders to effectively manage their pipeline and operational risk with modern systems that maximize their execution..
David Demster, Executive Vice President at PRMS said, “We are excited to be working with Calyx. We believe PRMS Risk Management Systems will provide an excellent complement to Calyx lending solutions and will deliver modern, dashboard-driven pipeline risk management / hedging capabilities, as well as a production analytics system. The relationship is definitely a win for our customers.”.
Dennis Boggs, Calyx Software’s Sr. VP of Business Development said, “Managing the hedging process involves complex tasks, best accomplished with a proven system that is robust but easy to use. This is where PRMS excels. A number of systems have the ability to provide risk analytics and hedge a lender’s pipeline but are overly complex and require time consuming implementation and maintenance. Bankers tell us ease-of-use and ease-of-implementation is where PRMS really stands out, compared to other systems they have previously used.” .
When moving to bulk warehouse lines, investors typically require the lender to work with a reputable risk management firm in order to get the line approved. Historically, Calyx was not able to address the risk management needs of its clients. The alignment with PRMS gives Calyx customers a solid option. Moving from best efforts to mandatory delivery allows mortgage banking operations to increase the earnings of their secondary marketing department without increasing loan volume. By using PRMS risk management solutions, lenders will have the decisioning tools and support to maximize trades and profits. .
Wade Brantley, National Product Sales Director for Calyx Software said, “Calyx has experienced rapid growth with mortgage banks and financial institutions that produce significant mortgage volume each month. When these operations start producing more than $10-$15M per month, they typically desire to move from selling “Best Efforts” to “Mandatory” because the additional margins are significant. In PRMS, we found a vendor that does both extremely well, and I know that our clients are going to be impressed with what PRMS can do to help them become more profitable.”

More Mortgage Professionals Trust Calyx Software - October 12, 2010
Calyx Software®, the preferred mortgage solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, announced today they are still the preferred vendor for brokers in the United States and a decided leader among mortgage lenders. Access Mortgage Research & Consulting, who has been providing extensive mortgage industry studies since 1991, first reported Calyx Software as a strong front-runner in 2000 with a 50% share of the market—a number that has only increased over the years. Today, Calyx dominates the loan origination market with a platform that customers find easy to use with the functionality they need for compliance and efficiency.
Of the mortgage brokers surveyed, 72.5% of them reported using Calyx Point as their loan origination software and 70.1% of them reported using Calyx Point for underwriting. The 2010 study was completed with 1634 responding loan originators separated into two groups: mortgage brokers and mortgage lenders. Of those 1634, only 1034 responses were deemed viable during the study. Of those deemed viable, 724 were considered mortgage brokers and 310 were considered mortgage lenders..
As Calyx has made great strides into developing and improving functionality of their banking screens and their interfaces with premier vendors, more lenders have taken notice. While Calyx does not have the majority of the market share in this market, at 36% of the market, Calyx comes in second place by only 1.4%. The results for the mortgage lender market—the fact that Calyx has over 1/3 of the market that consists of mortgage bankers, credit unions, and banks—is highly significant as providing solutions to the these customer groups has been a focus for Calyx in recent product updates, including the soon-to-be- released PointCentral 7.3..
“We are pleased to see that our efforts and quick response to our customers’ needs have indeed shown such a significant impact in market share among brokers and lenders,” said Jody Collup, director of marketing for Calyx Software. “We are proud of our customers who have demonstrated such resiliency and strength through the turmoil in the industry and as we prepare for our upcoming release, we appreciate their continued trust is us.”.

The integration embeds Loan-Score’s product and pricing engine (PPE) as well as its AUS within Point’s user interface. Without ever leaving Point, customers can interact with Loan-Score, which then decisions off of all relevant fields in the 1003 and a tri-merged credit report. With the click of a button, Loan-Score’s rules engine returns accurate pricing and an automated underwriting pre-approval that effectively simulates a human underwriter’s decision. Users have real-time visibility of underwriting conditions and loan status in a centralized area within Point.
In addition, users can also utilize Loan-Score’s AUS to access FHA TOTAL Scorecard via Web services while in Point. If the user submits a loan to the AUS and it is determined to be eligible for insurability by the FHA, a Loan-Score generated FHA certification is returned, which can then be sold to investors. The cost savings using Loan-Score’s connectivity to Scorecard is significant.
“Our integration with Calyx is one of the most strategic initiatives we’ve taken to capture market share,” says David Colwell, executive vice president of Loan-Score. “Embedding our Web-based application in Point provides Calyx users access to our comprehensive decisioning platform. We are the only non-agency AUS option in Point; the rest of the decisioning vendors are PPEs. We feel that this relationship has enormous growth potential for Loan-Score.”
Notable is that Calyx has recently positioned itself to aggressively pursue more mortgage bankers than they have previously focused on. Because Loan-Score’s primary focus is mortgage banks, the integrated solution strengthens the ability of both companies to continue picking up substantial market share in the mortgage banker arena.
“We’re elated to work with Loan-Score to offer our customers what we believe to be one of the leading SaaS-based decisioning capabilities in the industry,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president, business development at Calyx. “The expected cost savings Loan-Score can deliver to our customers, among other efficiencies, is very compelling. Loan-Score’s AUS alone, along with its interface to FHA TOTAL Scorecard, are two major differentiators from their competitors, which made the value of this integration clear-cut. We spent ample time performing our market research and this integration makes a great deal of business sense.”
Calyx and Loan-Score will be offering demonstrations of the integration at the Mortgage Banking Association of America’s 97th Annual Convention and Exposition at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA, October 24 – 26. Contact the companies to arrange a demo time at info@loan-score.com or 800-362-2599 or sales@calyxsoftware.com.

Calyx® Software®, the preferred mortgage solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, announced today the release of Point® and PointCentral™ 7.2. Point combines the latest technology with the functionality that mortgage professionals require for loan marketing, prequalification, origination, and processing. PointCentral unites Point with business rules, remote access, and consolidated data storage. Version 7.2 offers compliance updates and increased functionality and flexibility for traditional originating and loan processing as well as mortgage banking processes.
Point 7.2 complies with RESPA regulations that require loan originators to include a provider list with the new standardized Good Faith Estimate (GFE) statement effective January 1, 2010. Additionally, in order to comply with the latest Fannie Mae mandate, Point 7.2 includes the new Transmittal Summary Form 1008 that is required for all loans taken on or after January 1, 2010 and the new Application Form 1003 that is required for all loans taken on or after July 1, 2010. With improved document storage, automatic co-borrower synchronization, and closing document interface enhancements, mortgage loan processing is even faster and more efficient.
Version 7.2 also offers enhanced banking screens to provide greater functionality and effectiveness. Customers will see remarkable improvements in the screens for Fees & Impounds, Warehouse/Funding,
Shipping, Trailing Documents and Product & Pricing Interfaces. The Audit Trail feature, which allows the tracking of all field level and document management changes on a per loan basis, is only available in the PointCentral upgrade.

Confidence High for Calyx Customers - November 10, 2009
Calyx Point® 7.1, launched in August, 2009, includes the new GFE form, required for all loans beginning January 1, 2010, and is available to all current customers. In addition to providing the form early so that customers have an adequate adjustment period, Calyx also offers on-going training classes to help customers understand the form and how to use it.
“Because of the overwhelming response to our original GFE class schedule, we’ve scheduled more classes and will continue doing so as demand increases,” said Dee Dick, training manager at Calyx Software. “This is our way of offering a solution to a very confused industry, and our customers know they can trust us to make sure they’re completely compliant.”
The classes provide instruction on the purpose of the form and how information flows between the current GFE and the new one. During the GFE 2010 training, Calyx instructors will thoroughly explain each step of the process while students complete a disclosure in their own Point files. “We had so many questions and when we originally reviewed the new GFE, we were quite scared. After today’s training we are confident that we will be able to complete this properly,” said Laura Tosca with the MVP Mortgage Company in Miami.
In more compliance news, Point 7.2, which is launching this month, will include the new 1003 and 1008 forms that are also required in 2010.
Customers interested in learning about the new GFE can visit www.calyxsoftware.com/training for more information and scheduling.

“We realize the new GFE can be a challenge,” said Doug Chang, CEO. “This class will make the transition to the new GFE a seamless effort for Calyx customers.”
Among the challenges addressed in GFE 2010 training are proper use and population of the Originator field; completing the Important Dates section correctly; and detailed instructions regarding the Escrow Account Information and related check boxes on page one of the GFE. Clarification of fees and charges and how to enter them on page two is also included, along with recommended practices for Third Party Originators and meeting Regulation Z requirements. Calyx Software Releases Point Version 7.1 - August 26, 2009
Calyx® Software®, the preferred mortgage solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, announced today the release of Point® 7.1. Calyx Point combines the latest technology with the breadth of functionality that mortgage professionals require for loan marketing, prequalification, origination, and processing. Point 7.1 contains several upgrades to functionality designed to facilitate loan processing in various areas. Most importantly, Point 7.1 addresses two federal requirements that will keep lenders in compliance and includes a modified TIL form with recommendations specified by recent Truth-in-Lending Act amendments.
In order to comply with the federal and any state requirements stemming from the S.A.F.E. Mortgaging Act under new FHFA regulations, Point 7.1 offers applicable input fields and prints the NMLS number and license number (if applicable) of the loan originator, loan originator company, branch and the control person on the top of all forms. Additionally, Point 7.1 complies with HUD’s final rule of the revised RESPA regulations that requires loan originators to provide a new standardized Good Faith Estimate (GFE) statement effective January 1, 2010. To help customers transition to the new form, Point 7.1 uses the existing GFE to populate most of the fields and calculations for the new GFE (called the GFE 2010).
New features included in Point 7.1 include the ability to populate Forms 4506/4506-T within a Point screen and print them out complete with other forms needed during the application process. This significant feature, which enables larger, bolder font for mandated fields, will reduce the number of requests denied by the IRS due to illegible forms. Enhancements to Direct Connect title/escrow screens allow increased customization to the interface. “The 7.1 upgrade is necessary primarily because of the latest federal requirements but the bonus forms and improved functionality really contribute to its appeal,” said Doug Chang, president of Calyx Software. “We always look for ways to provide Calyx customers with affordable tools that will keep them productive and compliant.”
Point provides electronic storage for all loan documentation and imaging. Point also features comprehensive reports such as instant loan status information, cost of doing business, and a book of business summary. With robust features, flexible reporting capabilities, and ease of use, Point is the ideal system of record for mortgage professionals.

Calyx® Software®, the preferred mortgage solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, has been selected as one of the 2009 Top 50 Service Providers by Mortgage Technology. “Our four major criteria for inclusion of eligible vendors and service providers on our list are customer satisfaction, functionality, market share and viable revenue model,” said Anthony Garritano, editor at Mortgage technology Magazine. “Demonstrating functional value to lenders is our most important criterion. Calyx Software Announces Convenient Hosting Option for PointCentral - Monthly lease program provides low cost alternative to internal system implement - May 19, 2009
Calyx® Software®, the preferred mortgage solution provider for banks, credit unions, mortgage bankers and brokers, announced today the availability of a server hosting option for PointCentral™, the newest offering that enables remote users to access all loan information via a secured Internet connection. The hosted option gives mortgage companies, which have purchased PointCentral, the ability to store Point® loan files on a secure outsourced central server. Calyx Software has partnered with Access Business Technologies (ABT) and focusIT, Inc. to offer a choice for customers who opt for hosting services on a monthly lease basis. The hosting program minimizes up front capital expenditures and time otherwise spent purchasing and implementing an internal server.
“The hosting option is perfect for those companies that may not have access to a central server or the ability to purchase one,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “Companies that lack an information technology (IT) department or other outside resources to assist in setting up their PointCentral server are also good candidates for the hosting option as all of the work and immediate costs involved are negated. We’re proud to be able to work with ABT and focusIT for these services. They provide our customers with the same high levels of support and service they deserve and have come to expect from Calyx.”
Calyx’s PointCentral is a comprehensive data management solution that fits the needs of any size company—from a single office to a network with multiple offices or remote employees. PointCentral not only provides a centralized repository for all loan documentation and imaging, but also allows authorized users to apply field-level rules and conditions. Controlled access to screens, document storage, conversation logs, utilities and templates, meets the needs of financial institutions that require a higher level of security. Calyx’s secure hosting option also ensures the ability to meet ever-changing and increasingly stricter compliance standards.
“With today’s mobile environment, it’s crucial that all loan data is stored in a secure location while also allowing remote accessibility,” Boggs continued. “Our new hosting program provides an easy-to-deploy and affordable solution for organizations looking for enterprise-wide capabilities. In an increasingly competitive industry, Calyx provides yet another low priced program that drives costs and inefficiencies out of the loan origination process, resulting in improved productivity and profits for our customers.”
PointCentral is extremely affordable starting at $595 with $175 per seat for up to 10 seats. The price per seat is reduced incrementally for companies that require more than 10 seats. The hosting option starts at $59 per month with no set-up fees.

Calyx Software Releases Point and Point Central Version 7.0 - March 16, 2009
Calyx® Software, a provider of loan marketing, originating, processing and banking software, announced at the MBA Tech Conference the release of Point® and Point Central™ versions 7.0.
Point version 7.0 provides a number of new capabilities to improve workflow and increase loan productivity - including central document image storage capabilities for e-loan purposes as well as enhancements to banking screens, title and escrow interfaces and the addition of a new FHA statutory worksheet.
Due to the increased use of e-loans and e-docs, Calyx has integrated a document image storage feature for organizing and storing all of the documents in each Point file. Point automatically encrypts, compresses and associates each document with the loan file, regardless of whether the document is single or one of a group, from within Point or one of its interfaces, or from outside of Point. Externally-generated documents can be scanned and imported, or dragged and dropped, into the Point file, while maintaining an audit trail for each document that shows who created it, what it contains, and the date and time it was created. With its enhanced security, Doc Storage formats email documents into PDF files using 128-bit encryption and individually set passwords for each document in the storage file.
Another significant change Point 7.0 offers enhancements to the banker screens. Users can use Point as a single system of record, from origination through product pricing, registration and rate lock, underwriting, and eventually to closing and sale on the secondary market. The banker screens in 7.0 support user’s daily workflow more effectively and there is increased clarity in documentation tracking and reporting.
Additionally, title and escrow interfaces have been directly embedded into Point 7.0. Working within Point, users can now order all needed forms from a document provider. Calyx Point 7.0 also includes a worksheet enabling brokers and lenders to perform statutory required calculations and document them in the loan origination file, in order to comply with FHA requirements. The new worksheet saves hours of repetitive data entry, as information flows from screen to screen, while ensuring that the loan is in compliance throughout the Point file.
“We are excited for the new changes made in version 7.0, especially regarding the additional enhancements made to Point banker screens that satisfy a wider range of business requirements for bankers as well as brokers, “ said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “The latest updates benefit users by providing pertinent information directly that is needed throughout the loan process, while also allowing them to remain in Point and further save valuable time. “
PointCentral provides all the benefits and functionality of the Point program; but also allows remote users to access all loan documentation via a secured Internet connection and gives customers the ability to apply field-level rules and conditions for quality and compliance purposes. PointCentral's flexible technology is ideal for the broker, bank, credit union as well as the mortgage banker.
The solution also has a very affordable pricing structure to make it easy for customers to either purchase new or upgrade from their existing Point subscriptions. Users can choose to manage their PointCentral software on their own server or take advantage of one of our third party hosting providers for a low monthly service charge.
“Our goal is to ensure that Point and PointCentral consistently remain the products of choice in the mortgage industry,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “The newest versions also ensure users are in compliance, allowing them to focus on effectively and efficiently close loans.”

Point SDK serves as a two-way interface, providing the ability to read information from or write information into Point. It enables a company to develop applications that can access Point loan data from local folders or from Point Data Server.
“Point SDK enables us to take our existing applications and fully integrate them into Calyx Point,” said Matt Berry, IT manager at First Option Mortgage. “Before, there really was no way to have First Options’ internal databases communicate. Point SDK enables us to go where we were never able to go before.”
Point SDK requires Calyx Point version 6.1 or later and a compatible development tool with .NET 2.0. Point SDK will be widely available in May 2008.
Calyx Software Creates New Banker Compliance, Closing Document Experience - March 17, 2008
— Provides ability to issue initial disclosures directly from select vendor within Point —
DALLAS — Calyx Software®, the mortgage industry’s leading provider of loan origination and processing software, announced at the MBA Technology conference the ability to utilize Point ® in a more efficient manner by embedding initial disclosures and closing documents into the 6.1 version, available this May.
Prior to this new way of creating initial disclosures and closing documents in Point, users would have to exit Point and go to the website of the document provider so each experience was different. The new version includes data being entered from within screens built inside (or embedded) in Point. Every experience is the same for the users so there is only one learning experience needed. Initial disclosures and closing documents are now a natural extension of the overall Point experience.
Normally this kind of experience where the user operates within the software would only be possible via a custom integration. Many document providers have done such integration with the very largest lenders at considerable expense. This experience is now available to all bankers using Point at no cost and for all document providers who integrate with Calyx Software’s new closing document platform.
“The benefits of this new platform go far beyond the typical user experience because the compliance and closing document data now reside within Point, which further enhances Point as the banker’s system of record,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “Once the users enter the data into Point, they can generate reports from that data. The platform enhances efficiency as the documents are delivered within minutes of placing the order. Plus, it is easy to learn and user friendly.”
Once Point users prepare the needed documents, they can select a supported document provider within the Calyx Network. The initial seven vendors are Carson, Calif.-based DocMagic; Salt Lake City, Utah-based Docu Prep; Chicago, Illinois-based Document Express;
Idaho Falls, Idaho based DocuTech; Poway, Calif.-based LSSI; Dallas, Texas-based MRG Document Technologies; and Concord, Calif.-based Online Documents. More document providers will be added to the platform in future network updates.

Calyx Software Integrates Flood Certification Providers Into Point - February 12, 2008
Calyx Software®, the mortgage industry’s leading provider of loan marketing, originating and processing software, announced a flood certification provider category in the Calyx Network, providing users of Calyx Point® loan origination software with connection to participating flood certification vendors. The flood certification category is accessed within Point’s Services menu and includes seven companies providing flood certification reporting services.
Through Calyx Point, a loan officer can order reports directly from the flood certification category under the services menu and automatically incorporate the borrower data from the loan file into the flood certification request screen, thus eliminating the need for re-keying information. The only information entered by the loan officer is the specific flood requirements. Once the loan officer is ready to submit the loan file, the flood certification report is automatically included.
This category in Calyx Point currently includes six companies that specialize in providing flood certification reports: Loveland, Colo.-based Factual Data; Sacramento, Calif.-based First American; Columbus, Ohio-based CBCInnovis; Arlington, Texas-based FIS Flood Services; Atlanta-based LandAmerica lender Services; and Plano, Texas-based LandSafe.
“We are always working to improve the Calyx Network with additional loan service categories and service providers,‚ said Keith Kemph, national sales manager, interfaces, of Calyx Software. “Our flood category provides Calyx Point users with another user-friendly feature and function that enables them to streamline the origination process and close loans more efficiently.‚

Troy, Mich. -- Title Source Inc., one of the nation’s largest independent title agencies, has integated into leading home loan origination software Calyx Point to make it faster and easier for mortgage professionals to submit orders to the title and settlement services company.
The Calyx Point software platform provides an online portal for mortgage lenders and brokers to choose Title Source as the title and settlement services provider for a home loan. AFI Resources Integrates etaxrecords.com Income Verification Service into Calyx Point to Streamline Fraud Detection - September 11, 2007
AFI Resources, a leading provider of income verification services, today announced the completion of the integration of its secure tax verification system, etaxrecords.com, into Calyx Point®, the mortgage industry’s leading loan origination and processing software.
Recognizing the recent trend in today’s residential market for lenders to require income verification, AFI Resources and Calyx developed an XML data exchange interface that allows Point users to verify their borrowers’ incomes with just a couple clicks inside their Point software, with 24 hours processing by AFI Resources. This integration addresses the industry-wide need for loan originators and lenders to detect fraud early on in the loan process.
According to LA Times author Michael A. Hiltzik, “Countrywide says it has taken steps to tighten lending standards, along with the rest of the mortgage industry. Among other things, it has eliminated piggyback home-equity lines and no-down-payment mortgages and requires income verification from borrowers with down payments of 10% or less.” And other lenders are likely to add the same requirements.
The integration of etaxrecords.com into Point makes it quick and easy for loan originators to verify income without encountering the delays of waiting for borrowers to locate their tax returns and risking having their loans denied right before closing or even at the closing table. They are also able to detect fraud during pre-funding, when it counts most.
“Verifying Income protects the borrower from buying too much house, and protects the lender from potential buy backs. It’s a step towards a better world, based on sound business practices and common sense,” states David Munoz, AFI Resources, Inc.
According to Dennis Boggs, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Calyx Software, “This integration makes it even easier and quicker for Point users to originate and process their loans. This simple-to-use service will lessen the risk for them and for the lenders they work with, making it a very attractive addition to the Calyx Network of services.”

Calyx Software Releases Highly Anticipated Point and Point Data Server v. 6.0 - August 29, 2007
Calyx Software®, the mortgage industry's leading provider of loan marketing, originating and processing software announced today the release of Point® and Point Data Server® versions 6.0.
Point 6.0 integrates mortgage broker and banker functionality for the first time, in addition to adding new marketing tools, a powerful new report generator and more at no additional cost and with no extra software needed. The new and enhanced features include:
• Banker Screens — Point 6.0 offers 10 new screens that provide report and status data for mortgage banking activities, from underwriting through loan sale and trail documents management. This eliminates the need to use multiple systems when funding and selling loans - allowing Point to be used as the system of record. Owners have the flexibility to designate user access, administering screens for specific user needs or locking them down so that only those who need them have access – creating controlled access for sensitive financial data.
“Many of our broker customers have become or are evolving into mortgage bankers, and it’s our goal to continue to serve the needs of all our users. The bankers who we expect to most benefit from this release are those originators who both broker and bank their loans, and sell their funded loans on a servicing-released flow basis,” said Dennis Boggs, SVP of Calyx Software.
• Marketing Tools — Point users can now market and grow business right from Point with a few clicks of the mouse. New tools allow Point users to create custom letters, newsletters, promotional emails, and mailing labels instantly using Point data. Microsoft Word 2000 (or later) required.
• Reports — Richer reporting functionality will be available in version 6.0 with both standard and custom reports available. One of the supplied reports provides a “snapshot report” of the company; in short, at any moment, an owner can run a report to find out how profitable their organization is. Included in this report is loan status, cost of doing business, and a summary of the company’s ‘book of business,’ with the added ability to sort by loan officer, branch, region, day, year, or any other metric. Point report data can now be easily transferred to Microsoft Excel to take advantage of Excel’s powerful data analysis and charting capabilities. Several sample report templates are included in 6.0.
• AVM Ordering — Automated Valuation Model (AVM) reports can now be ordered right from Point. Results are incorporated into the loan file automatically.
• Repeat Loan Generator — This feature creates new loans for existing customers by copying only the information contained on the Loan Application and omits automatically any information that does not apply to the new loan.
• Advanced Search — Now Point users can search for loan files across multiple data folders. “The changes included in 6.0 show Point’s evolution to a product that supports a more efficient way to manage both a mortgage broker operation and a mortgage banking operation,” Boggs continued. “And it highlights many other management features that have been in Point all along.”
Point Data Server 6.0, compatible with Point 6.0, offers a convenient, secure way to share Point files across a mortgage organization – centrally and securely. Loan data is stored on a central server, making Point files accessible from any location. Through Point Data Server loan officers and processors can instantly search, open, edit, and save loan files in the central database directly from their Point desktop as well as generate management reports built on information from different offices. This latest version offers the ability to designate local data folder control – meaning administrators can increase the level of control and security over sensitive loan data by designating whether users have access to Point data on their local machines or only when logged into Point Data Server.
Version 6.0 also stores all data captured in the new mortgage banking screens giving owners the ability to run a multitude of reports that show them exactly where their business stands at any point in time. Point and Point Data Server 6.0 work together to provide one system of record for organizations and gives owners the ability to ensure every loan is profitable prior to its closing. New Point Data Server customers will also enjoy easier implementation with a free SSL certificate and domain name that's good for the life of their subscription.
Calyx began shipping Point and Point Data Server version 6.0 on July 27. All current Point subscribers should receive their update before the middle of August. For more information about these releases, see www.calyxsoftware.com or call (800) 362-2599.
Calyx Software Maintains Dominant Market Leadership Position in Loan Origination Systems - August 29, 2007
Calyx® Software, the mortgage industry’s leading provider of loan marketing, originating and processing software, reported a market share of 67.9 percent for Point® from the recently completed Wholesale Access 2006 Mortgage Broker Study. Calyx Software has maintained a consistent market-leading share of 67.9 percent over the last three Wholesale Access studies, dating back to 2003.
Wholesale Access is a research, advisory and publishing company, founded in 1991, focused exclusively on the mortgage finance industry. The 2006 Wholesale Access Mortgage Broker study was conducted to monitor the role and value of mortgage brokerages in the origination of residential mortgages and represents the company’s eighth study of the industry. The research examined broker revenue and expense structures, demographics, use of technology, products, operations, wholesaler relationships and economics.
"Based on our 2006 survey, which was fielded in early 2007, Calyx has maintained its dominant market share of two-thirds since 2002 and is the market leader for loan origination systems (LOS),” said David Olson, president of Wholesale Access. “Most firms are satisfied or very satisfied with their current LOS provider so we see little change in Calyx's market share in the future."
Calyx’s Point application provides comprehensive mortgage functionality for loan marketing, prequalification, origination, underwriting, processing, management and reporting. The company recently released Point version 6.0, which expanded capabilities for both brokers and mortgage bankers.
“We are extremely pleased that Calyx Software continues to be the overwhelming vendor of choice for loan origination systems,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “We understand that the key to our success has not only been delivering a feature-rich application, but also a product that’s easy to use, reliable, and backed by outstanding customer service.”
First Title & Escrow and Calyx Team Up in the Services Menu to Provide Instant, Exact Closing, Title and Recording Fees Nationwide. - June 25, 2007
Why wait on RESPA Reform? Get exact Closing,
Title, and Recordation fees at origination of your loan, INSTANTLY!
All around the country, mortgage lenders are paying out huge amounts in consumer restitution and penalties as a direct result of consumer complaints that are being submitted to state regulators in record numbers. Complaints concerning errors made in connection with the issuance by a Lender of the Good Faith Estimate (GFE) have consistently been among the top ten consumer complaints made to state regulators. While many of the complaints arise out of actions taken by individual loan officers without the knowledge of the company’s owners or compliance officers, as a result of the license being in the name of the owners, those owners are ultimately responsible for the wrongdoings of their employees.
What are the consequences of these inaccurate GFEs?
Lose, lose, lose. When borrowers get less money back then they originally expected as a result of their reliance on the GFE, borrowers, loan officers and owners lose. When borrowers have to bring more money to the closing table then they originally expected as a result of their reliance on the GFE, they all lose again. When borrowers get upset because the product they see at the table differs from that which they thought they were getting pursuant to their reliance on the GFE, loan officers frequently have to reduce discount or loan origination points. The result? You guessed it. Everyone loses.
GFE reform likely
But, that is all certain to change as HUD has identified the GFE as the area it is most likely to reform in most of its reform proposals. There are certain to be significant penalties associated with a failure to provide substantially accurate numbers on the GFE. With all of the recent negative subprime press, RESPA Reform, HUD Deputy Secretary Roy Bernard, in his remarks before the National Mortgage Banker’s Association National Policy Conference in Washington, DC on April 27, 2007 said, “[i]n my view, we need to be smart and visionary, and responsible. We must implement a solid set of reforms, a coherent plan that addresses several levels of the sub-prime problem simultaneously.
First Title & Escrow, a Nationwide Title and Closing services company, has teamed with Calyx to create the solution.
Together First Title and Escrow and Calyx created an integration that transmits exact title and closing fees right into the Calyx LOS in seconds. The interface can be accessed from the Services > Title menu in Point. Stephen Papermaster, President of First Title states, "Partnering with one of the mortgage industry's leading LOS providers advances our goal of providing originators with accurate title fee data instantly at origination. With HUD's push to mandate precisely accurate cost disclosures in connection with its proposed ‘GFE Model,' our clients' utilization of the data will not simply be a value-add, but an absolute necessity within their procedures when making disclosures. First Title will now return a pre-HUD with exact closing fees, title fees and recordation fees directly into the Point software.”

Calyx Software Announces Point 6.0 with Mortgage Banker Functionality Scheduled for Release in Summer 2007 - March 26, 2007
TAMPA, March 26, 2007 – At the 2007 MBA Mortgage Technology Conference, Calyx® Software previewed Point® 6.0, the first Point version to include Mortgage Banking-specific functionality. Point version 6.0 is expected to be released summer 2007, with the new banking solution provided at no additional cost.
With 10 new screens in version 6.0, Point can provide report and status data for all activities, from underwriting through loan sale and trail documents management. This eliminates the need to use multiple systems when funding and selling loans. Key data will now be stored in Point, and loan team members will be able to perform loan reviews to prevent errors rather than find them afterwards. In addition, with the ability to run enhanced reports on that data, and more data access control, Point can be relied upon as a system of record for small and midsize bankers.
Along with the banking screens, richer reporting functionality will be available in version 6.0 with both standard and custom reports available. Point 6.0 will also offer a “snapshot report” of the company. In short, at any moment, an owner can run a report to answer the question ‘am I making money?’ Included in this report is loan status, cost of doing business, and a summary of the company’s ‘book of business,’ with the added ability to sort by loan officer, branch, region, day, year, or any other metric.
“The changes in Point are deeper than just an offering of new screens,” said Dennis Boggs, SVP of Calyx Software. “The changes show Point’s evolution to a product that supports a more efficient way to manage both a mortgage broker operation and a mortgage banking operation. And it highlights many other management features that have been in Point all along.”
Folder management and screen access rights allows for controlled access for sensitive financial data. Owners also have the flexibility to allow user access, administering screens for specific user needs or locking them down so that only those who need them can access them.
CSIdentity Inks Deal with San Antonio Retail Merchants Association to Provide Identity Theft Protection - March 12, 2007
Austin, Texas: CSIdentity Corporation (CSID) announced today that it has signed an agreement with San Antonio Retail Merchants Association (SARMA) to offer CSIdentity’s industry leading Identity Theft Protection services (CSIdentity Protector TM) to SARMA’s customers.
The identity theft protection service includes a security bundle of seven-layers, creating the most comprehensive ID Theft Protection platform in the nation. Together, these seven layers provide the broadest net of identity detection and protection available today. The seven-layers of comprehensive identity protection are:
Credit Monitoring of credit inquiries, delinquency triggers, derogatory comments, tax liens, judgments and bankruptcies on your credit report.
Debit Monitoring of new bank accounts, check orders, NSF’s, derogatory comments, etc. on your Debit Report. Derived from over 90% of all checking, savings, credit unions, brokerage and 75,000 retailers.
Public Records Monitoring detects criminals redirecting your mail through change of address, multiple names attached to your social security number, your identity listed as deceased, deed transfers, property liens, new phone services at your address, and more.
Criminal Record & Sex Offender Monitoring detects criminal convictions and bookings in your name as well as sex offender registrants using your address. Also provides alerts on sex offenders moving into your neighborhood.
Internet Monitoring of more than 10,000 criminal chat rooms and websites to detect the selling of credit cards, socials, mothers-maiden names, account numbers, passwords, etc. that were obtained through data breaches, phishing scams and other means.
Restoration Services available through our toll free number to provide you with personalized and on-going assistance to restore your identity and get your life back on track.
Identity Theft Insurance* provides up to $25,000 reimbursement to the Covered Person for expenses and lost wages associated with Identity Restoration with no deductible. This policy is underwritten by a member company of AIG insurance. (Coverage does not apply for NY residents due to current NY legislation.)
“At SARMA, we want to continue providing our customers with the best solutions available today,” said Bob Benavides, SARMA’s CEO. “We already ensure that our back-end systems are the strongest in the industry, and now, by offering CSIdentity’s ID Theft Protection platform, our customers can enjoy the safety that comes with the most comprehensive identity protection services available.
Identity Theft is the highest reward, lowest risk crime for criminals (DOJ National Strategy to combat identity theft - 2005) and individuals have little recourse but to take control of protecting their own identity.
Approximately 9.4 million Americans had their identity stolen in 2005 (FTC). Compare identity theft statistics with the 6.4 million auto accidents, 1.4 million violent crimes, and 1.2 million heart attacks that occurred in 2005 and its clear that Americans should be concerned about this growing risk.
“CSIdentity is squarely focused on the severe and growing problem of Identity Theft by using cutting edge technology (CSID’s Cyber Agent tm) and billions of data records to constantly monitor how your identity is being used” stated William Morrow, CSID’s Chairman. “The clear fact is that individuals can no longer protect their identities as they exist today in 1,000’s of companies and 10,000’s of computers across the nation. In less than two years, hundreds of companies, universities and the government agencies have been breached exposing the personal identity information of more than 102 million US citizens – almost half of the US adult population.”

Calyx® Software Partners with Credex™ - March 1, 2007
Nation’s only fully-integrated credit pulling and lead management tool is now directly available to Calyx® Point® users
March 01, 2007 -- Calyx® Software, makers of the award winning Point® loan origination and processing system, announced today the inclusion of Credex™ (www.credex.net) to its growing partner base. This partnership allows all Calyx users to enjoy direct access to the most comprehensive credit pulling, lead capture/management, and business solution available to the mortgage broker marketplace.
Launched in 2006, Credex has already helped more than 3,000 brokers nationwide capture and qualify their leads by providing an online application called AppWizard™ that communicates instantly with the borrower, the broker and any other third-party lender and/or Realtor® deemed by the broker to be relevant to the process. Credex also helps brokers to manage their credit costs by offering many options for paying for credit including direct pass-through of the costs to the consumer.
"By helping brokers identify and qualify their serious customers early in the process by offering instant access to their credit, we help them focus their energies where they are most likely to close the deal," explained Peter Phelps, COO/CFO of Credex.
Currently the only company that provides consumers direct access to their tri-merged mortgage credit report in easy to read format in either English or Spanish, Credex fits seamlessly into a broker’s existing marketing strategy by giving them a place to direct current and potential borrowers. The full integration of Credex and CreditXpert® also assists brokers with optimizing the credit scores of their borrowers for more successful mortgage qualification.
Once the borrower completes the short online-application, their vital information is sent via text message, e-mail, or is displayed online to the broker. He or she can also choose to have that information simultaneously sent to another party, such as the Realtor® involved with the transaction, for complete communication between the parties. Meanwhile, the information is also stored in a manageable database that can then be instantly uploaded into their Point system.
“We are thrilled to be able to provide CalyxPoint® users direct access to Credex™ through this partnership. Point is the industry standard for today’s mortgage broker and it is exciting to be able to provide added value to those users by giving them tools to help them run their business more efficiently and profitably.”

Calyx Software Releases WebCaster 2.4 - December 19, 2006
SAN JOSE, CALIF. - Calyx Software today announced the latest release of WebCaster®, the preferred web site solution for Point users. This release — version 2.4 — provides additional site designs, optional email accounts, economical domain name registration, and more storage capacity for larger files.
“We asked our Point and WebCaster users what was important to them in an online solution, and then we incorporated what they asked for into this version,” said Dennis Boggs, SVP of Calyx Software. “Now WebCaster is a complete storefront with everything that an originator needs to do business online – domain name registration, email accounts, online loan application processing, Point integration, and notifications and site designs that will reinforce any brand.”
WebCaster is the web site solution specifically designed to work with Point. Only WebCaster offers users the Desktop Client, a tool that notifies originators as soon as prospects submit loan applications on their WebCaster site. The applications then transfer (with secure 128-bit encryption) directly to Point or Point Data Server. This tool can be downloaded from the WebCaster Administration site, free of charge to all WebCaster subscribers.
As a company, Calyx Software is dedicated to providing tested products that help originators succeed at price points that make sense. At only $24.99 a month, WebCaster is quality consistent with custom designed sites, yet integrates better with Point to streamline the loan process. Since its re-launch in the third quarter this year, with the incredible low pricing and no contracts or set-up charges, WebCaster has seen impressive adoption.
Boggs continued, “With slowing growth in the market, Calyx Software remains steadfastly committed to helping our customers succeed. Because of the pricing and features in 2.4, our users are telling us they are purchasing additional sites — sites specific to a particular market, like for a suburb or for a vacation destination. We are proud to be a vehicle for that expansion.”
FIRST AMERICAN’S ANTHEM LENDER DIRECTORY OFFERS A CLEAR PATH TO BROKERS AND LENDERS NOW USING ALTERNATIVE CREDIT SOLUTIONS —Company Also Announces Key Enhancements to its Alternative Credit Product Suite— - November 3, 2006
LAS VEGAS, Nov. 3, 2006 —The First American Corporation (NYSE: FAF), America’s largest provider of business information, today announced the availability of the Anthem Lender Directory, a growing index of screened and certified mortgage lenders who have incorporated nontraditional credit scoring solutions into their underwriting processes. More than 200 loan officers from across the nation are currently listed in the growing directory, which assists real estate agents, community-based organizations, home counseling service providers and consumers in identifying lenders who are using the latest credit evaluation techniques to deliver the best possible loans at the best possible prices.
Introduced at the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) convention in Las Vegas this week, the Anthem Lender Directory is expected to be of great value within the homebuying segments where a more comprehensive approach to credit is necessary to better evaluate borrowers without established files at the major credit bureaus. First American’s credit information subsidiary, First American CREDCO—the largest provider of credit information to the mortgage industry—estimates that 20 percent of Americans are “unscorable” using traditional credit bureau data alone, but that many can qualify for prime-grade loans when alternative payment history is brought into the evaluation process.
“By helping consumers efficiently identify trusted lenders who are now embracing alternative credit solutions, First American is continuing to serve as a catalyst in creating homebuying opportunities within the emerging minority and new immigrant homebuyer segments,” said Mark F. Catone, senior vice president for First American CREDCO. “Connecting those homebuyers with committed lenders who have undergone our rigorous compliance screening process will enable many more deserving families to secure prime-grade mortgage loans.”
“On a $300,000, 30-year loan, a family that qualifies for a 6 percent rate will pay $600 less per month and $220,000 less over the life of that loan than a family with a 9 percent interest rate,” said Landon V. Taylor, vice president of Market Development at First American. “Often the only barrier keeping that family from the lower rate is a credit score derived from data that does not fully reflect the borrower’s willingness and ability to repay the loan. Lenders who use alternative credit solutions are helping lift this barrier and leveling the playing field for prospective homebuyers with nontraditional banking, credit and spending patterns.”
In addition to the new Anthem Lender Directory, First American has also announced several enhancements to its Anthem product suite, a tested and reliable alternative credit solution that helps mortgage applicants with little or no traditional credit history qualify for prime-grade financing. Anthem augments traditional credit bureau data with rent, utilities, insurance and other types of payment histories to produce a more comprehensive view of a borrower’s payment behavior. New enhancements include:
• Spanish language credit reporting and disclosures;
• International credit data reporting;
• Automated “thin-file” and “no-file” notification;
• Automated Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) identification; and
• Integration with EagleCert, an insured valuation product from First American that offers time and cost savings over a traditional appraisal while not exposing the lender to any greater risk.
Anthem is the only fully compliant mortgage credit reporting solution that meets mortgage loan underwriting and due diligence requirements of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), the Federal Housing Administration (FHA), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
NAHREP Chairman Frances Martinez Myers noted that the current mortgage industry practice of “lowering credit standards and raising allowable debt-to-income ratios” is a disservice to borrowers and to businesses over time, and that “broadening the current credit spectrum to be more inclusive of culturally influenced Hispanic borrower traits” is a healthier, short- and long-term approach. The enhanced Anthem product suite provides lenders with the tools necessary to efficiently and profitably make loans based on alternative credit criteria.
“We are taking the next step in closing the homeownership gap by building upon our success with Anthem,” said Taylor. “By meeting the specific compliance and underwriting needs of mortgage lenders and investors, we are seeing increased adoption of Anthem.”
Last week, First American announced a new partnership with Neighborhood Housing Services of America (NHSA) that is using Anthem to help qualify “thin-credit/no-credit” borrowers for prime-grade mortgages. Employing the broader credit information available via Anthem, the program successfully delivered its first prime-grade loan to a homebuyer in October.
For more information on the Anthem product suite, please visit: www.credco.com/anthem. Lenders and brokers interested in registering with First American’s Specialty Lender Directory should visit www.credco.com/crediteducation, or call (800) 255-0792.
First Title and Calyx Announce Integration - October 24, 2006
SAN JOSE, CALIF. and Rockville, MD.– October 24, 2006, Calyx® Software, provider of the mortgage industry-leading Point® software and First Title & Escrow, Inc. (First Title), a nationwide provider of title and closing services to mortgage lenders and brokers, today announced a collaboration agreement to make First Title one of two title vendors on the Calyx DirectConnect™ platform. When completed, the MISMO interface-based integration will allow Point users to transmit title and closing orders directly from their Point desktop.
Because of the integration, Point users will receive an instant HUD-1 in the Point file, complete with exact closing, recording and title insurance premium fees. Because these numbers can be imported at an early stage in the loan, originators can price their loans more accurately earlier and streamline the origination processes.
“First Title is excited to be able to offer our products through DirectConnect to the incredible number of Point users,” said Steven Papermaster, CEO of First Title. “With respect to both future products and our existing offering, Calyx is a great partner. Working together, we can make a difference in MISMO and eventually help alleviate some RESPA concerns for our industry.”
Calyx and First Title are working together to recommend upgrades to the MISMO Title specifications that will allow for an accurate Good Faith Estimate (GFE). Those updates are expected with the next release of MISMO. With additional fields added to the MISMO Title specifications, First Title will include exact loan data and will insure (not to exceed) closing fees, title fees and recordation fees directly in the Point file. First Title is offering that product through their Web interface, www.firsttitleservices.com, today.
“DirectConnect partners like First Title are quickly expanding our offerings and helping Point users be more productive everyday,” said Dennis Boggs, senior vice president of Calyx Software. “We look forward to the next steps in this partnership. For the past year, Point users have seen consistent innovation and quality enhancements that make sense for today’s originator. Companies like First Title will continue to play an important part of that growth and reliable quality from all Calyx Software products.”

New Flood Certification in Point
With this new feature, Point users can order and receive flood certificates through a quick, convenient, and direct connection from a drop-down list. New Task Reminder
This handy feature lets Point users set a reminder for critical tasks. A reminder notice pops up on the day and time specified, ensuring that important tasks are never forgotten.
Revamped Conversation Log
The Conversation Log sports a new look in Point 5.3. It features a row-and-column format—each row contains a separate item pertaining to the conversation and when hovering over an item in the new Conversation Log, the entire entry is displayed.

· Payment by Credit Card and Requested By (for credit agencies that wish to include it).

Atone Software, Inc. is Now Available Nationwide Through Calyx Point v. 4.3 - March 18, 2004
Atone Software and Calyx Software are pleased to announce the integration of Atone’s core technology, Automated Mortgage Processing (AMP™), into Calyx Point® v.4.3 through Calyx’s Preferred Point Partner platform. With the new Interface, brokers and other mortgage professionals can select Atone Software from the Interfaces > Internet Services menu and, with a single click, send originated file data to Atone. AMP gives Point originators and processors more ways to connect electronically to their partners, including the ability to transmit both loan file data and documents to their lenders, in lieu of traditional paper faxing and over-nighting paper files.
AMP permits Point users to attach supporting documents directly to their corresponding conditions from DU or LP findings and to clear the conditions online. The AMP tool also provides automatic email notifications of loan activity to all parties; custom loan delivery of data and documents; and customized interfaces for all parties to view loan information and collaborate online from any web browser.
“With the integration with Calyx, AMP is uniquely able to provide a collaborative loan processing center that allows real-time communication and delivery of data and documents to all parties involved in the loan process,” said Richard Collins, CTO at Atone Software.
According to Dennis Boggs, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Calyx, "The digital loan package is certainly coming to life. Atone has utilized the Calyx Preferred Point Partner platform to improve on the hand off between Point and AMP. We’ll see Atone picking up even more data in the Point 4.4 release due out in mid-April. This is an exciting development for our customers, and we expect even tighter integration around this solution going forward."
Brokers and Lenders Experience Significant Workflow Benefits from Tighter Application Integration - March 18, 2004
ATLANTA, March 10, 2004 - Calyx Software, a leading provider of desktop loan origination systems, and Advectis, a provider of paperless origination and loan archiving applications specifically designed for the mortgage industry, announced a tighter integration of their flagship products, Calyx Point and BlitzDocs. This integration comes as Advectis joins the Calyx Preferred Point Partner program and will significantly increase workflow efficiencies for both brokers and lenders in their loan origination and underwriting processes.
“We use both Calyx Point and BlitzDocs,” said Cheryl Reeves, Vice President of Mortgage Services of Mortgage Tree Lending. “We selected both products because they are regarded as industry standards by our originators. Now that Calyx and Advectis have decided to more tightly integrate their products, our loan originators will benefit from a blended application that is easier to use. The integration of BlitzDocs and Point gives us a seamless best of breed solution that completely eliminates the need to re-key redundant information.”
“Currently, Calyx Point is in use with more than 65 percent of the nation’s brokers,” said Greg Smith, president and co-founder of Advectis. “When our current customer base, which includes four top 20 lenders, has fully deployed, we anticipate that BlitzDocs technology will be implemented with many of the same brokers using Calyx. To ensure that this process goes as smoothly as possible, we felt that collaborating with Calyx to deliver a more integrated, easy-to-use solution for our joint customers, was the natural next step.”
"With more time to focus on their current and potential technology investments, brokers are highly critical, as they ought to be, of solutions that promise drastic improvements in efficiencies," said Dennis Boggs, Senior Vice President of Business Development for Calyx Software. "With BlitzDocs, our brokers will now have the tools to build their own e-folders, and they can collaborate within their enterprises, immediately realizing significant efficiencies. Likewise, brokers can hand off the e-folder to a wholesale lender or investor with ease, and spend the time they save generating new leads."
With Advectis as a Preferred Point Partner, a broker will be able to access BlitzDocs from within Point to create electronic loan folders without re-keying any information already captured in Point. Brokers, using ordinary fax machines or scanners will also be able to submit imaged documents to lenders for paperless underwriting. The integration will further streamline the loan process by allowing both brokers and lenders instant access to underwriting findings, loan status, credit information and appraisals via a secure on-line connection.
"Clearly we are reaching the point where the loan package itself is undergoing a transformation from paper to electronic. Through the Preferred Point Partner platform, Advectis is creating an interface that will provide even greater efficiencies for BlitzDocs users, and will extend the value of Point,” said Boggs.
Point provides brokers with a seamless method of connecting to their lenders by allowing them to search products and services, register and lock loans, as well as submit applications for automated underwriting. Data only has to be entered once and can be transferred to lenders without re-keying. Point also reduces response time to minutes and automatically stores lenders’ responses.
“The fact of the matter is that we have hundreds of brokers using BlitzDocs, and we have hundreds of brokers using Point,” said Herb Palmertree, first vice president of Atlanta-based Liberty Mortgage. “Even more important than the heightened integration of two powerful tools for our brokers to get us loans faster and with less work is the fact that with Calyx’ market share and BlitzDocs’ ability to remove paper from the origination and processing of loans, this alliance is an example of an industry bound for the electronic mortgage.”
BlitzDocs allows lenders to streamline the loan document submission and underwriting process with their brokers or originators. The heart of the BlitzDocs solution is the electronic loan folder (“e-folder”), which mirrors the paper loan folder used by mortgage companies today. Using a fax machine or scanner and a Web browser, brokers, lenders, investors and other authorized parties are able to capture, submit, organize, underwrite, audit, securely share and archive submission packages and closed loan documents in real time.
Calyx created the Preferred Point Partner program to provide mortgage service providers with a streamlined automation platform built into the Point software. This integration is one additional step toward bridging today’s paper-intensive processes with tomorrow’s e-mortgage by reducing costs, turnaround time and increasing overall process efficiency for both brokers and lenders. To be certified as a Preferred Point Partner, a vendor's interface must meet certain requirements, including the ability to send data from inside Point, and if necessary, create or update Point files.
Calyx Software Announces the Newest Lender in Point - March 18, 2004
San Jose, CA. - Calyx Software, makers of the award winning Calyx Point loan origination and processing system, announced today the creation of a new Lender in Point® interface that gives Point users direct access to Saxon Mortgage, Inc. (“Saxon”), a subsidiary of Saxon Capital, Inc. (NASDAQ: SAXN) eSaxon automated underwriting system from within the Point program. The new interface allows data to flow instantly from Point files into the eSaxon underwriting system, making it faster and easier than ever before for mortgage professionals to conduct direct transactions with Saxon.
With the new application, information goes straight from Point software to Saxon’s system and back, so loan decisions are available in minutes. The new interface will become available in the April, 2004 release of Point version 4.4.
According to Dennis Boggs, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Calyx Software, "The new Saxon interface in Point is clearly solving what brokers are looking for; easy access to their lenders, data synchronization between lender and broker, and documents from the lender that are stored with their files that can be viewed and printed off line. Saxon is at the forefront employing the new web Lender in Point interface. Launching eSaxon from within Point will assure quick adoption of Saxon’s technology by Point users, and will require a lot less training than so many other interfaces available in today's marketplace
"At Saxon, we specialize in the business of sub-prime and non-conforming mortgage loans. Saxon's roots date back to 1989, and since then we have consistently increased our market share in this arena. Our focus on customer service and the best employees in the business have made Saxon a superior lender. Our new interface in Point will provide our borrowers with even greater service and efficiency," said Dennis Stowe, President and Chief Operating Officer of Saxon Capital
Calyx Point Sales Surpass All Records in January - February 24, 2004
San Jose, CA - Calyx Software announced today that new sales of its flagship product, Calyx Point, surged in January 2004, at more than double the rate that Calyx experienced at the peak of the refinance boom last year. This January, Calyx issued 1,893 new licenses for Point, compared with 760 in January of the previous year.
The January surge in new Point licenses, combined with last December's record-breaking number of current Point users upgrading to the newest release, brought the total number of 10-user Point v 4.3 active licenses to an unprecedented 34,300. New sales of PointMan, the single user origination software, combined with upgrade subscriptions during this same period, brought the total number of active PointMan licenses to 4,600
"We expected a record number of Point users to upgrade to the latest version before the first of the year because of the new loan application that's now required," said Dave Stout, Calyx Sales Operations Manager. "We didn't really expect the surge in new sales that we experienced, since the refi boom is effectively over."
The Mortgage Bankers Association's Weekly Mortgage Surveys for January 2004, which count the number of mortgage loan applications for purchases and refinancings for that period, show a 39.8 % decrease in mortgage loan activity compared to January of the previous year. Despite the decrease in mortgage activity, new orders for Point flooded into Calyx at two and a half times last January's rate, which was the peak of the refinance boom.
According to Stout, "Ellie Mae's attempt to take customers away from us doesn't seem to have the effect they intended from their huge media blitz. What we are noticing is that many Contour and Genesis customers are switching to our product."
Dennis Boggs, Vice President of Business Development at Calyx credits Calyx's success in the market to its company culture. "We're normally a quiet company - we focus our talents on building good software and supporting our customers. Currently, all the talk in the media has our customers, and the marketplace in general, wanting to hear more from us about what we are doing. We'll do a better job of this in 2004."
Calyx Software Leads with 68% of the Mortgage Broker Market - December 2, 2003
Wholesale Access, a respected mortgage industry research firm, has once again found Calyx Software to be the dominating market leader in front-end mortgage processing software. According to recently announced Wholesale Access figures, Calyx now holds a majority of the broker market share, with 68 percent of the mortgage brokers in the nation using Point.
"According to a study of mortgage brokers in 2003 by Wholesale Access, Calyx Software is the nation's number one loan origination software," said David Olson, managing director, Wholesale Access. "The survey revealed that 94 percent of the 30,000 independent mortgage brokers identified in 2000 are using front end software, and Calyx Software's Point holds 68 percent, up from 40.7% of the market in 1998."
Ease-of-Use, Customer Satisfaction Key to Point's Market Domination
Of all mortgage brokers, 86.6% are "satisfied" or "most satisfied" with their current loan origination software. However, brokers with Calyx's Point software responded that they were "satisfied" or "most satisfied" 92 percent of the time (compared to 79 percent for all others). According to Olson, "This is a higher level of satisfaction than for any of the other loan origination software firms. The chief reasons for broker satisfaction with Calyx software were: (1) ease of use; (2) excellent program overall; (3) dependability.
Qvault, Inc. Announces Nationwide Release of Status Sweep for Calyx Point - December 2, 2003
Qvault today announces nationwide support of Status Sweep for Calyx Point loan origination software. Status Sweep is a collaboration tool that allows Calyx Point originators to web enable their existing Point software without hardware or software changes. Key features of Status Sweep include online pipeline management, automatic email notifications of loan activity to borrowers and partners and customized interfaces for staff and borrowers to view loan information and collaborate online from any web browser.
“Managing internal communication while supporting strong relationships with borrowers and value chain partners is what Status Sweep® is all about” said Rob Cecil, managing partner at Qvault. “Just keep using your existing Point loan origination software as you always have but now you can push vital need-to-know information to the very parties that need-to-know, automatically, 24 x 7” added Mr. Cecil. Current subscribers to the system have issued very positive remarks as well…”Aside from Point, Status Sweep is the single most important tool we have managing the back-bone of our operations” remarked Ervin Kowitz of Premier Financial Company in Baltimore, Maryland. “We are 1000% satisfied.”
What is unique about Status Sweep is how it works with existing Calyx Point loan origination software. Status Sweep ‘sweeps’ active borrower files on an hourly basis then securely posts this information on customized websites for management, loan officers and processors to view critical information in a very user friendly interface. Likewise, borrowers can log into the system and view detailed information about their loan including conditions pending and other key data. While management will find the online pipeline management features indispensable, the system also provides automatic email notifications to all parties when key changes take place in Point.
Status Sweep is a patent pending ASP model. There is no hardware or software to purchase and the solution is priced for any size brokerage to take immediate advantage of its communication power.
"Qvault's Status Sweep is a valuable addition to the long line of mortgage products that work well with Point. Calyx's openness in it's use of technology encourages creative vendors like Qvault to build products that add value to Point, thus increasing the effectiveness and profitability of mortgage professionals," said Dennis Boggs, Vice President of Business Development, Calyx Software.

This new credit interface is the first service offered through Calyx’s Services in Point program, designed to better integrate services into Point software, using industry-wide MISMO (Mortgage Industry Standards Maintenance ) XML data standards. The first version of this feature will be delivered to customers in early October with the release of Point v4.0.
The new credit interface places the credit ordering and processing functions directly in Point, making it quicker and easier than ever for loan professionals to gather credit information. Through a simple user interface, a broker can order credit; including new orders, upgrades, and reissues; populate liabilities; and view and print reports. Brokers enjoy the convenience of never having to leave Point to access credit.
Additionally, this new interface enables Point to store more information than ever within the broker’s Point file. All credit reports and results become part of the Point file, and if the files are copied, moved, or emailed, the reports and results automatically move along with them.
Calyx partnered with the following credit providers to introduce this program.
• ACRAnet, Inc.
• AIR Credit Reporting, Inc.
• American Reporting Corp (ARC)
• Equifax Mortgage Services
• Factual Data Corp.
• First Magnus Credit Services
• INFO1
• Informative Research
• NCO Credit Services
• Old Republic Credit Services
• ONLINE Mortgage Reports
• SW Credit Services, Inc.
• Synergistic Software Systems, Inc.
Additional credit providers will be added to the program in future releases.
